Psychological Assessments

A psychological assessment is conducted by our Registered Psychologist. It is a comprehensive evaluation designed to help understand the emotional, psychological, behavioural, and cognitive challenges that may be affecting your daily life, relationships, work performance, and overall well-being.

Many individuals seek a psychological assessment when they are experiencing symptoms that are difficult to understand, manage, or explain. These may include anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, emotional dysregulation, difficulties with concentration and memory, occupational stress injuries, or other concerns that are impacting functioning.

The assessment process typically involves a detailed clinical interview, a review of relevant personal, medical, occupational, and psychological history, and the administration of standardized psychological testing when appropriate. This comprehensive approach helps ensure an accurate understanding of your experiences and current challenges.

A psychological assessment can help:

  • Clarify diagnoses and identify underlying psychological conditions.
  • Understand the impact of trauma, stress, or mental health challenges on daily functioning.
  • Identify personal strengths, coping strategies, and areas requiring support.
  • Provide recommendations for treatment, accommodations, and recovery planning.
  • Support applications for workplace accommodations, disability benefits, insurance claims, or other services when appropriate.

For many individuals experiencing an Occupational Stress Injury (OSI), a formal diagnosis is often required to access specialized treatment programs, workplace supports, disability benefits, or services available through organizations such as Veterans Affairs Canada, insurers, employers, or other support systems. A comprehensive psychological assessment provides the clinical information necessary to determine whether diagnostic criteria are met and to guide appropriate treatment recommendations.

Following the assessment, a detailed written report is prepared outlining the findings, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations. This report can serve as a valuable roadmap for treatment planning and can assist individuals, healthcare providers, employers, insurers, and other stakeholders in understanding the nature and impact of the identified concerns.

Our goal is to provide a respectful, evidence-based, and collaborative assessment process that helps individuals gain clarity, access appropriate supports, and move forward with confidence in their recovery journey.
