Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems (IFS), often referred to as “parts work,” is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that recognizes the complex and multifaceted nature of our inner world. IFS views the mind as consisting of different parts that develop throughout life in response to our experiences, relationships, and challenges.
Some parts may carry emotional pain from past experiences, while others work to protect us from distress. When these parts become overwhelmed or stuck in unhelpful patterns, symptoms such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and trauma-related difficulties can emerge.
Through a compassionate and non-judgmental process, IFS helps individuals develop awareness of their internal system, heal wounded parts, and access their core Self, a source of calmness, clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
IFS has been shown to be effective in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, and Occupational Stress Injuries (OSI). By fostering greater understanding and harmony within the internal system, individuals can experience lasting emotional healing, increased resilience, and improved well-being.
