Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based, collaborative therapeutic approach that helps individuals strengthen their own motivation and confidence to make meaningful, lasting changes. Rather than telling clients what they should do, MI creates a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore ambivalence, identify personal values, and build on existing strengths. It is particularly effective for individuals navigating substance use, health behaviour changes, anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, and other life transitions where change can feel difficult or overwhelming.
At Rising Warrior Psychotherapy and Neurofeedback Clinic, Motivational Interviewing is integrated with evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-focused psychotherapy. By meeting clients where they are in their journey, MI empowers individuals to make choices that align with their values, enhance resilience, and support lasting recovery and personal growth.
