Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)

A trauma therapy approach that works with the body’s natural orienting response to support deeper processing and nervous system regulation.

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is a trauma-focused therapy that helps individuals process the deeper nervous system responses associated with traumatic and overwhelming experiences. By working with the brain’s natural threat and orienting systems, DBR aims to address trauma at its roots rather than simply managing symptoms.

Trauma can leave lasting effects on the nervous system, contributing to symptoms such as anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional reactivity, shame, depression, dissociation, and a persistent sense of danger or disconnection. DBR helps clients access and process these unresolved responses through a slow, structured, and carefully paced approach that prioritizes safety and regulation.

DBR is commonly used to address PTSD, complex trauma, developmental trauma, moral injury, operational stress injuries, anxiety, and depression. Many individuals find it particularly helpful when they understand their struggles intellectually but continue to experience emotional or physiological reactions that feel beyond their control.

DBR is integrated within a comprehensive treatment approach tailored to each individual’s needs, helping clients move toward greater regulation, resilience, and lasting recovery.

What to Expect From Care

Every client comes to us with a different history, level of stress, and reason for seeking support. Whether you are a veteran, first responder, family member, or civilian looking for trauma informed care, our team will help determine whether this service is a good fit for your needs, goals, and preferences.

We take a thoughtful approach to matching clients with the right clinical specialist.
