Preston Allen

Preston works with Veterans, first responders, and individuals experiencing trauma, including acute, chronic, complex, and developmental trauma. Many of the individuals he works with find themselves stuck in patterns they cannot seem to think their way out of-hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, anger, anxiety, or a sense that part of them is still living in the past.

His work is grounded in Brainspotting, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), while also drawing from AEDP, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and narrative approaches. Recognizing that trauma affects both the mind and body, Preston integrates approaches that help clients process unresolved experiences, examine beliefs that may have developed in response to trauma, and work through the emotional and physiological impacts of operational stress injuries and other overwhelming life events.

Through Brainspotting and DBR, clients are supported in accessing and processing experiences held deeper within the nervous system, often beyond what words alone can reach. Through CPT, clients learn to identify and challenge beliefs that may keep them feeling stuck in patterns of guilt, shame, self-blame, fear, or disconnection. Together, these approaches help create meaningful change that is experienced emotionally, physically, cognitively, and relationally.

Many Veterans and first responders spend years pushing through, managing symptoms, or carrying difficult experiences alone. Preston’s approach does not require clients to repeatedly retell every detail of what happened. Instead, therapy is tailored to the individual’s needs and focuses on helping clients process unresolved experiences, develop a deeper understanding of themselves, and move toward lasting healing and recovery.
